MDESK Login: How Owners, Staff and Teachers Get Started

3 min readGetting started

Quick answer: One person, usually the institute owner, registers on MDESK with Google or with email and password (email registration needs a 6-digit verification code). That owner then creates accounts for staff and teachers. Staff sign in with their email or username on the main sign-in page; teachers sign in with their Teacher ID and password on the teacher login page.

MDESK is built so that nobody at your institute has to guess where to log in. This guide explains who registers, who gets an account from someone else, and where each person signs in.

Who registers and who is added

  • Owner: registers once, verifies their email and sets up the institute.
  • Staff: added by the owner under users and roles, with a role and permissions that match their job.
  • Teachers: added by the owner or staff in the teachers section. Teachers do not register themselves.

This keeps control with the institute. Nobody can join your MDESK account unless you create it for them.

Owner registration: two ways

On the MDESK sign-up page, the owner chooses one of two routes.

  • Continue with Google: sign up with your Google account and go straight in, with no separate email code to enter.
  • Email and password: enter your name, email and a password of at least 8 characters.

The email and password route needs one extra step, because the owner must verify their email. Check your inbox for a 6-digit code, valid for 15 minutes (a new one can be requested every 2 minutes), enter it, and then sign in. After either route, complete your institute profile and start adding courses, classes and people.

New sign-ups include the first month of the base system free plus NPR 1,000 credit toward modules. See the pricing page for current details.

How staff get their login

The owner creates each staff member, chooses a title or role, and sets a password, either typed in or generated by MDESK. Permissions follow the role, so a front-desk user can be limited to what they need. Share the login details privately and ask the staff member to sign in at the MDESK sign-in page with their email or username.

How teachers get their login

When you add a teacher, MDESK shows their Teacher ID and password with a copy button, so you can send both in one message. Teachers then go to the teacher login, enter their Teacher ID and password and land on their dashboard, classes and attendance. Teachers can also link a Google account where Google sign-in is available.

Forgot your password?

  • Owner and staff: use the Forgot password link on the sign-in page. MDESK emails a code, and you then choose a new password.
  • Teachers: use the password reset request on the teacher login page. The request goes to your institute, and an administrator can reset it for them.

Common login problems

  • Wrong credentials: check for extra spaces and confirm whether the person uses an email, username or Teacher ID.
  • Email not verified: an owner who registered with email and password must enter the 6-digit code before signing in. Signing in again sends a fresh code.
  • Teacher on the wrong page: teachers use the teacher login, not the main sign-in page.
  • Too many attempts: login is rate limited. Wait a minute before trying again.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I log in to MDESK?

Owners and staff sign in at app.mdesk.net/login. Teachers sign in at teacher.mdesk.net/login. Both links are in the website menu.

Can a teacher create their own MDESK account?

No. An institute adds its teachers, and MDESK gives the institute the Teacher ID and password to pass on.

Who needs to verify their email?

Only the main owner, and only when registering with email and password. Owners who sign up with Google, and the staff and teachers the institute creates, do not need the 6-digit code.

Can I sign in with Google?

Where Google sign-in is available, the Continue with Google button works on the sign-in pages.
